i would firstly identify the key components the computer.
this will include looking at :
- a processor
- a RAM- RandomAccessMemory, more RAM improves computers performance. when buying i would look for 256MB or 512MB DDR RAM.
- a hard drive- i would look for a 80GB of hard drive, because of school work i would need more storage.
- a monitor- i would pick an LCD but i would then expect to pay$250-$550 depending on the size i want. so if i end up picking an LCD then i would look for a 3 year warranty. LCD screens have great resolution and colour compared to CRT monitors.
- ports- i would look for a 4 USB port
- mouse- i would pick roller ball mouse. even though it tends to clog from dust it only costs around $10 and less and you can buy a new one after that.
- CD/DVD/RW drives- i would find one that stores alot of files?
- printer- i would get an ink jet printer because their reliable depending on the brand and its also cheaper to purchase.
- keyboard- would get a wired keyboard because most of them when you buy also comes with a mouse. Cost around $80.
- just the whole system itself- i would tell everyone to stick with name brands like HP, Dell, Sony, Toshiba and i would look for a long warranty
